What you see here is already available. The date of each milestone is approximate: the day its first improvements reached production.

The version numbers on this page are summary labels (one per major milestone), not the exact number for each change. The full technical log, with the exact version and date of each change, is in the changelog.

v6.6 feature security

Link previews, «My notes» and copy text

  • Optional link previews: when you send a link, a card with the page's image, title, and description travels inside your encrypted message. They come turned off, they are for everyone, and you decide.
  • The first time you send a link, we ask you once if you want them; after that, you can turn them on or off in the main menu.
  • Our server does not store the link or log it, and whoever receives the message never contacts that website.
  • YouTube and Reddit previews display with a large image.
  • Your 24 words no longer open automatically when you sign up: you can always find them in «My data → View your 24 words». Write them down on paper.
  • «My notes»: a chat with yourself to save texts, links, and files. It is created the first time you use it, is sent to no one, syncs with your other devices, and you can hide it with the notebook icon.
  • «Copy text» in PDFs: copies the text of all pages with one button, without the file leaving your device.
  • Text recognition in photos and scanned PDFs, done on your own device: the photo comes out upright even if you took it sideways, and you choose from about 30 European languages. Each language is downloaded only when you ask for it and you can remove it from «My data».
  • Sending the same message or file to several contacts at once is now free for all accounts.
  • The whole app switches language instantly, without reloading the page.
  • Solo2 now updates itself at a safe moment (never during a call, a file transfer, or while typing), reopens in the same chat, and lets you know with a short note. You no longer have to click anything or reload the page.
  • The profile menu is grouped into sections, and on a computer, copy and forward icons appear when hovering over a message.
  • On logout, the screen is completely cleared: the draft, open chat, search box, and your account details are no longer visible to the next person who uses the device.
  • A notice at the top tells you what state your account is in (grace period, trial about to end, or paused account) and when it gets deleted, and any blocked action explains the reason.
  • Each chat keeps its own draft: you switch conversations and what you were typing stays there, even if you reload the page.
  • Your profile photo and those of your contacts update instantly in the header and list, and removing it really makes it disappear.
  • Emoji reactions: hovering over a message, or long-pressing on mobile, brings up a bar with six emojis to react with a single tap. On mobile, the rest of the screen dims behind the menu.
  • «Extract text» and «Copy text» in the menu of photos and PDFs, without opening them: text is recognised on your own device.
  • New «Share» option in the message menu and selection bar, and «Select all messages» in each conversation's menu.
  • Common links without «https://» (like youtu.be/… or www.…) are now clickable, and a message with a link waits a few seconds for its card to be ready before sending.
  • When deleting a contact you can keep messages and files: the conversation remains as history, marked «History only» if you deleted it or «Deleted by your contact» if the other person deleted it.
  • The Support contact cannot be deleted, but it can be hidden, just like «My notes»; it reappears when you open it from «Support» or when it messages you.
  • «How to start»: a five-step illustrated guide, in the profile menu, which also appears when your chat list is empty.
  • «Sign out and wipe this device»: in the profile menu, removes your messages, files and contacts from THAT device only; your account and your other devices remain as they were, and you can sign in again with your name and password.
  • When something cannot be done (a call that doesn't go through, a file that doesn't fit, a rejected transfer), now a window with an «Understood» button and the reason tells you, instead of a notice that disappears by itself.
  • If the microphone does not work when calling or answering, the window tells you if you blocked it, if there is no microphone, or if another app is using it, and where to look.
  • Special nudges (bell, kiss…) are now saved as a line in the chat, and if they arrive late (with the other person offline) you see them there even if they didn't ring.
  • Nudges also reach you with the app closed, as a notification, and if you have turned off «Allow nudges» for a contact, they receive none.
  • When creating an account or logging in for the first time, the terms and privacy policy are shown first, with a separate checkbox to confirm that you are at least 16 years old. Existing accounts accept this once.
  • “Make PDF searchable”: a scanned PDF receives an invisible text layer in a copy saved in “My notes”; it is never sent and the original is untouched. Copies feature a gold outline.
  • “Automatically convert received PDFs” switch per contact (also in “My notes”): off by default, and only converts what arrives after enabling it.
  • A PDF's menu always shows “Make PDF searchable” and, if not possible, appears dimmed with the reason. If the PDF already has text on only some pages, it asks you before converting.
  • “Move history to…” in each chat's menu: copies the entire conversation to another chat with original authors and dates, with progress, a cancel button, and resumption if you reload.
  • “Select all messages” also within selection mode; when forwarding 200 messages or more, it asks you beforehand and sends them in batches with progress.
  • Deleting a huge chat is much faster, and any deletion of 500 messages or more displays a progress bar.
  • Every call leaves a line in the chat on both sides: rejected, busy, missed, failed, or answered with its duration.
  • A failed send remains marked and can be retried with a tap; the notice syncs across your devices.
  • Your profile photo reaches your contacts from any of your devices, the most recent one always wins, and removing it also reaches them even if they were offline.
  • Unread chats have a marker, appear at the top beneath the open chat, and the count appears in the tab title. A message only counts as read if the window is in the foreground.
  • In a chat with a deleted account you can keep typing; a notice informs you that what you write will remain pending. When copying selected messages, only what you read is copied.
  • You can turn read receipts on or off in settings; if you turn them off, you won't see when others read your messages, and others won't see when you read theirs.

Certified date, signed copy and professional card

  • Certify date on any file in a chat: up to three independent time authorities sign it and you receive proof you can verify yourself (2 a month in Normal, 20 in Pro, 100 in Business)
  • Verifiable signed copy: export a conversation with a signature that anyone can verify offline and without an account, and prove a single message separately; created by paid accounts
  • Professional card for Pro and Business: a banner and up to three lines at the top of each conversation, which your contacts only see if we have signed that your account is on that plan
  • Colour labels for your contacts, with name and filter, visible only to you on your devices
  • Send a message or a file to several contacts at once, with the outcome for each
  • An app-native clock, adjusted with the server, which alerts you in orange if your device clock has drifted
  • Your contacts' security keys travel to your other devices, and the session renews while you use the app
  • Private identity documents: keep an encrypted document (national ID card, licence, certificate) in your account and present it to a contact for as long as you choose, with delivery confirmation and the option to withdraw it
  • The Support chat is now an end-to-end encrypted conversation, just like those with your contacts

Business account: fund and invite your team

  • New Business account, to invite and fund other people's accounts with a bonus configurable by the administrator
