Terms of Use

Last updated: 20 October 2026

By creating an account on Solo2, you accept these terms. We wrote them to be understood, not to hide anything. If something doesn't convince you, don't use the service.

Who we are

Solo2 is a service of Menzuri Gestión S.L. , with NIF B-27228683 and address in Lugo, Galicia, Spain.

Contact: hola@solo2.net

Your responsibility

You are the sole owner of what you send. Since Solo2 is a private encrypted system, we cannot (and do not want to) moderate your conversations.

Lawful use

Solo2 is for people who value their privacy. Using the infrastructure for illegal activities is prohibited.

We'd love to tell you that if someone uses Solo2 for something bad, we'll detect it immediately and cut their access. But we'd be lying. And here, if there's one thing we do well, it's not lying.

Our encryption is real. We cannot see your conversations, we cannot read your messages, and we cannot know what you use Solo2 for. That is exactly what we promise, and we keep our promises.

A kitchen knife can prepare a wonderful dinner or it can cause harm. A car can take you on holiday or it can be used as a weapon. The solution has never been to ban knives or cars — it's to trust that the vast majority of people are good. The same applies to private conversations: two people can get together to do good or to do evil, and nobody would think of banning people from talking. We simply bring that conversation into the digital realm with the same guarantees.

If you use Solo2 for something illegal, the responsibility is exclusively yours. We won't know about it, nor do we want to — but the law has its own ways of finding you, and none of them go through us.

Private communication is a basic right. We truly believe that one of the most fundamental freedoms of any human being is the ability to communicate freely with another, in private.

Today, in almost all communication between people on any device used for writing, privacy is not seriously protected. Almost always it is lost entirely.

It is true that this degree of privacy could facilitate misuse by one person in several million, and that is wrong. But stripping everyone of the freedom to communicate in private, whether by internet giants or powerful governments, is not a small price paid by one in millions: it harms each and every individual. It is clearly worse.

Just as you can save a copy of your data to an external file, you can also replicate it through the automatic tunnel. We explain this in Your data lives on your device.

Minimum age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Solo2. When creating an account, and each time we ask you to accept a new version of these conditions, you confirm this by ticking a specific checkbox, separate from the acceptance of the conditions. If you are under 16, do not use the service.

Your browser, your environment

Solo2 runs inside your web browser. We control the quality of our code, but we cannot control the environment where it runs

If a malicious extension reads what is displayed on your screen, or if your operating system is compromised, that falls outside our scope. We recommend using an up-to-date browser with as few extensions as possible.

Menzuri shall not be liable for any loss or disclosure of information caused by the user's environment (browser extensions, malware, unauthorised physical access to the device, or any other circumstance beyond our service).

Your local data

Your messages, files, and contacts are stored exclusively in your browser

This means that the custody of your data is yours

Solo2 offers encrypted backup export tools and automatic recovery between linked devices. We recommend using them.

Additionally, you can export a readable copy of your data at any time: a standard ZIP file, openable on any computer, designed so you can take your information with you. It is not a restorable backup within the app —for that we have the encrypted backup—, but a copy for your data portability and personal preservation.

Balance and payments

When you add balance on the web, the payment is processed by MenzuriPay, our payment system, separate from Solo2, through an external payment gateway. Solo2 only receives confirmation of the payment, its amount, and a single-use reference. Neither Solo2 nor MenzuriPay receives your card details. If you request a full invoice, MenzuriPay stores the tax details you provide.

Records of payments made on the web are deliberately unlinked from user accounts. The only reference linking a payment to an account is deleted the moment the balance is credited; afterwards, no data links that charge to your account. This is a design decision that protects your anonymity.

As a direct consequence of this protection, balance added on the web is not refundable. This is not a commercial restriction, but a technical impossibility: we cannot return money to a person we cannot identify, linked to a transaction we cannot associate with any account.

When making a payment on the web, you expressly request that the balance be credited to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed and you accept that, given the anonymous nature of the system, it is not possible to process refunds.

How the bonus works. The bonus is a gift from Solo2, not money you paid, and it is only included with payments made on the web: Apple or Google subscription payments do not generate a bonus. It is credited the same day you pay. If you downgrade to a lower plan (you or an administrator), you lose all your remaining bonus. You never lose real money, and the app warns you of the exact amount before final confirmation.

If you have a Pro or Business account, you can top up someone else's Normal account (for example, a client of yours) and pass them part of your bonus, but only after 60 consecutive days on Pro or Business. This has nothing to do with downgrading: if you downgrade, you lose whatever bonus you have left.

Subscription from the Apple or Google app

In the Solo2 apps for iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play), you can purchase your plan as a monthly subscription. The store charges you using the payment method in your Apple or Google account, and sends you the receipt. Before confirming, you see the price directly in the store, in your currency and with your country's taxes; inside those apps, it is the only price you will see.

Each monthly payment is added to your Solo2 balance, just like a top-up: it adds the price of one month of your plan, regardless of the currency you pay in, and we add it only once for each payment confirmed by the store. Each day we deduct that day's price from your balance, as with any account, and the balance never expires. Subscription payments do not carry a bonus: bonuses only accompany payments made on the web.

The subscription renews automatically each month, at the store's price, until you cancel it. If the store fails to charge a renewal, no balance is added: your account continues using whatever balance it has, and when it runs out, it works like any account with zero balance.

You can cancel it whenever you want in the subscriptions of your Apple or Google account; Solo2 gives you a direct shortcut, “Manage subscription”. When cancelled, it stops renewing, and any remaining balance continues paying for Solo2 day by day. If you upgrade to a higher plan, the change is immediate; if you downgrade to a lower plan, it applies at the next renewal. Because subscription payments carry no bonus, downgrading does not take away anything you paid in the store: your real balance does not change. You only lose, as with any downgrade, whatever bonus remains from your trial days or from payments made on the web.

If you subscribe during your free trial, the trial ends at that moment and the days you had left are added to your balance as a trial bonus, just like when paying on the web. The stores do not offer a separate trial: the free trial is Solo2's, identical for all accounts.

Refunds for payments made in the store are decided and processed by the store, according to its own terms, and your consumer rights against it remain unchanged; to request one, use Apple's or Google's procedure. When the store refunds a payment, it notifies us and we deduct from your balance what that payment had added (if it is a partial refund, only that part), without your balance ever dropping below zero. If the store later reverses the refund, we restore exactly what we had deducted. And if on upgrading Apple refunds the unused portion of the previous month, we also deduct that same portion of what that payment had added.

To subscribe, the minimum age under these terms (16 years) and your store's payment rules apply. Each subscription belongs to a single Solo2 account: it cannot be used on another account while the first exists.

If you delete your account from the Android app, we cancel your Google Play subscription and you will not be charged again. An Apple subscription is not cancelled when you delete your account: cancel it beforehand in your Apple account; Solo2 reminds you before deleting. As with any account, any balance remaining upon deletion is lost.

Right of withdrawal

European legislation recognises a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases (Article 9 of Directive 2011/83/EU and Articles 102 and 104 of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007).

In the case of payments on the web, the balance is credited to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed. When making the purchase, by ticking the box on the payment page, you expressly consent to the immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that, once the balance is credited, you lose the right of withdrawal in accordance with Article 103(m) of RDL 1/2007 and Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU (supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, where the performance has begun with your prior express consent and with the acknowledgment that you lose that right).

Additionally, in payments on the web, the deliberate unlinking of payments from accounts makes it technically impossible to identify the payer for a potential refund.

If you pay with an Apple or Google subscription, withdrawal and refunds are handled with the store, according to its terms; what that means for your balance is explained in “Subscription from the Apple or Google app”.

Intellectual property

The Solo2 software is the property of Menzuri, but your privacy is yours alone.

The code, design, trademarks, and content of Solo2 are the property of Menzuri Gestión S.L. or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, and revocable licence to use the service in accordance with these terms. You may not copy, modify, decompile, or reverse-engineer the software.

Service availability

We strive to keep Solo2 available continuously, but we do not guarantee 100% availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (in whole or in part) at any time, with reasonable prior notice when possible. We shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or interruption of the service.

This availability refers only to our server, which facilitates the connection between you and the other person. You always keep the app, if you have it installed locally, and all your data, forever; you only need your 24 words. And this holds even if we are not around, even if the server is off, even if we are unpaid, or even if you closed your account with us.

Account suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time from the application settings. Deletion is immediate, atomic (all or nothing), and irreversible.

Let's be honest about our capacity to act: since we don't know who you are or what you do within Solo2, our ability to "suspend accounts for misuse" is, in practice, virtually non-existent. We don't monitor content because we can't — and we don't want to be able to.

That said, if a court order instructs us to delete a specific account identified by its username, we will comply with the law. But we cannot go beyond that, and we don't pretend otherwise.

Disclaimer

The Solo2 service is provided "as is" (AS IS)

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for data loss, business interruption, or indirect damages arising from the use of the service.

It is complex software operating in real time on distributed infrastructure. Use it at your own risk.

In any event, Menzuri's total cumulative liability to you for any reason shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to Menzuri in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or 50 euros, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Spanish law.

Force majeure

We shall not be liable for the failure or delay in fulfilling our obligations when caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, power or telecommunications outages, cyberattacks, governmental actions, pandemics, or any other force majeure event recognised under Spanish law.

Changes to terms

We may update these terms when necessary. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make a reasonable effort to notify you through the application itself.

Continued use of the service after the new terms are published implies acceptance of those terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may stop using the service and delete your account.

Applicable law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Spanish law. For any dispute arising from the use of the service, both parties submit to the Courts and Tribunals of Lugo (Spain), without prejudice to any rights you may have as a consumer under applicable law.

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you may also file complaints through the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform
